Monami to introduce eco-friendly recycled “m-eco plus pen 3000”

Stationery maker Monami will introduce “m-eco plus pen 3000,” a recycled, water-based pen that contains eco-friendly messages.

Monami has been interested in sustainable eco-friendly activities of a virtuous cycle wherein discarded plastics are reprocessed and used as raw materials again; as such, it has been striving to develop recycled products. As a result, m-eco (a compound of Monami and eco) plus pen 3000 is set to hit the market officially on the 18th.

m-eco plus pen 3000 is a recycled, water-based pen made of single-use plastics, or raw material discarded after being used only once. The axis of “plus pen 3000,” a steady-seller of Monami, is made of recycled plastic. Similar to existing plus pen models, it is capable of detailed expressions with thickness of 0.4mm, and a single package contains water-based pens of four different colors: black, blue, red, and green.

In particular, each color has its unique phrase on eco-friendliness engraved next to the Monami logo; such phrases include “Meaningful change in things thrown away,” “Start to create something again,” “Value of again and one more time,” and “Sustainable, new, and right practice,” from which one can be reminded of the idea and necessity of keeping our Earth a healthy place.

The packages for pens are also manufactured considering eco-friendliness. Made of paper containing recycled cocoa shells, the packages are printed with soybean oil ink, and a knotted string made only of paper without any adhesive is used, which is an interesting aspect.
